Not what I expected to see as I rolled through Kansas on the original routing of Route 66. Seems like an unusual spot to find an Erie Lackawanna locomotive.

I'm not sure how this Erie Lackawanna train ended up in Kansas, but as you can see, it's unlikely to be leaving anytime soon!

I discovered this rare gem at an industrial site in Galena, Kansas....just west of Joplin, MO. Sadly, I think the grim reaper's cutting torch isn't too far away.

A few years after this picture was taken the station closed,and was moved a few blocks south to old Highway 66,it was restored and now serves as a museum.
